What an amazing fall we've had so far! October in our classroom has been filled with so many incredible things. We took a fabulous trip to the fire station, decorated pumpkins, (check out the slide show below), and learned all about bus safety. We have also been learning our shapes, numbers 0-20 and how to print and sequence them, all about teen numbers, patterns, nouns and verbs, as well as, positional words. We will continue to practice our color words while we add these and more sight words to our word pile; and we will also continue to learn about money, estimating, more or less, and counting. In our classroom, we're also working on being "bucket fillers" and not "bucket dippers" as we practice our social skills and learn about friendship and bullying. And if that's not enough, we've already learned the letters Mm, Ss, Aa, and Pp and their sounds and how to blend them into short words. Plus, with the wonderful fall harvest upon us, we are also learning about the pumpkin life cycle and the four seasons. Harry the Husky has also made an appearance and has started his visits to kindergarteners' homes. Ask your kindergartener to tell you about Harry and his adventures. While you're at it, ask your kindergartener to sing you a few songs or recite a few poems. We've been learning quite a few and really enjoy sharing them with others. Special thanks to Aleta Holbrook - a good friend and fellow colleague from Albany Elementary - for picking up the pumpkins and thank you to the farmer in Cold Spring for donating them. We had a great time decorating them. There truly is never a dull moment in kindergarten! Stop in and check out our beautiful artwork in the hallway and see how busy we are and you most likely will hear me say, "Where does the day go?!!?" Up next - Thanksgiving and the another month of fun filled learning! Until next time, enjoy the gorgeous fall.
