This week we begin studying letters of the alphabet and their sounds, reviewing colors and color words, learning about Johnny Appleseed, learning about fall, practiced printing and recognizing numbers 0-10, learning about germs and how to avoid them, learning about the life cycle of the apple and parts of the apple, discovering the differences between living and non-living things, we spent time playing in the sand table, and did so much more! We had fun hearing many apple stories (both fact and fiction), learned a few poems, nursery rhymes, and songs, and we did several art projects to go with our studies. We even made applesauce on Friday. Yum! Your children are wonderful cooks!
We also began studying animals and their habitats, which will encompass a yearlong study and culminate in a wonderful booklet that your children will be making and that they will bring home in May. First up on our animal list was the moose. Coincidentally, there has been a bull moose wandering around Collegeville as of late. Keep your eyes open and you just might spot him! I hope everyone had a chance to play in the leaves, spend some time outdoors, and enjoy the spectacular colors of fall and the matching weather. Until next time, fall into autumn, and enjoy spending time together.
