Can you believe it's already January 15th and the first month of the new year is halfway over!!
We started off our first day back by imagining ourselves living in a snow globe; the results were fantastic and we have an amazing display of "snow globes" hanging in our hallway. We also have spent a lot of time learning about My Plate and healthy eating. Ask your child what should be on their plate for a balanced meal. There are lots of ideas about My Plate on the internet. In addition to our regular studies, we've also spent a lot of time focusing on our counting by 1's, 5's, and 10's to at least 110. Lots of friends have told me they've been practicing at home - and it shows! Keep up the good work and practice, practice, practice. We've also spent a lot of time learning to blend letters and sounds, and using word chunks to read and create words. Wow! The things we have learned and the places we're going! Up next, Martin Luther King, Jr. and fostering peace and community. In math, we'll begin learning about 3-D shapes and reviewing the 2-D shapes; as well as, the following coins: penny, nickel, and dime. Until next time, stay warm and enjoy time spent with family and friends.
