Good morning,
I am letting you know that I am going to be changing things up a bit in Seesaw so as not to overwhelm you and to make things more equitable between all the kindergarten classes. In order to do this, I will only be listing the Weekly plan in the activity/assignment section. If you would like to receive additional activities such as the ones that I had previously posted, just email me and I will add them to your activity assignment choices just as before. As always, you are welcome to explore the activities section of Seesaw on your own and make choices that way, too. Sincerely, Mrs. Manthe P.S. Some parents have asked for a basic plan to help them with scheduling. This is just one idea and you need to do what works for you, but maybe this will help. So here's an example of a Daily plan: *Attendance *FlipGrid video(s) for the day *Post Response to Question of the day in Seesaw *Work time ideas: any of the items on the plan for the day, read books, review letters, sounds, words, numbers, and do some packet pages, - Do what fits your schedule and time frame. *Play and play and play some more, inside and outside in between and after work times *Each day/night or several times a week - check over your child's work to see if he/she needs help or how he/she's doing so you can correct him/her if he/she's doing something incorrectly and needs extra guidance. *EXTRAS NOT REQUIRED: Epic, Seesaw activities, Lalilo, Reading Bear, etc. Yikes! We were having so much fun during our Valentine's Day celebration and 100 Day celebration that I forgot to take pictures of most of it! However, I was able to grab a few when I finally remembered! We had a great time and learned a lot with academic activities "disguised" as fun. Enjoy!! Where did the holiday season go?! We had a great time with some special people in our lives creating one-of-a-kind "gingerbread" houses (and sneaking a little or a lot of frosting and treats along the way). Check out our creations and enjoy seeing the fun that was had by all! Many of you had an elf visiting you this holiday season. Mava's mom shared some photos with me and I got special permission from Mava and her mom to share these pictures with you. Her elf was constantly where he wasn't supposed to be, so she build him his own house using creativity and ingenuity! Enjoy!
I can't believe that the month of November came and went already! We are in the last few weeks of fall - although it feels like we're knee deep in winter already! We had a fantastic presentation on Veteran's Day about veterans by Mr. Noll who was a career helicopter pilot. His wife, Diane Noll, our former administrative assistant, also came in to help. He explained to us what a veteran was, shared with us many types of helmets, vests, outfits, and more; plus he, showed us pictures, and let us try things on and ask questions. A special thanks to him and all of our veterans who keep us safe and have helped to make America great! Then, we had a presentation from some jr. high students on how to use Bee Bots to do coding. It was so much fun and they'll be coming back soon to do part two! Finally, thank you to everyone who sent in fleece and to our adult helpers: Diane Noll, April Wegleitner, Janelle Terhaar, and Monica Villanueva (a student teacher from St. Cloud Technical college who is with us three days a week through the 18th of December). Our Project Linus service project was very successful and we had a blast making blankets! In addition, we've been practicing all of our math and literacy skills in creative ways with hands on materials, songs, poems, drawings, worksheets, ipads, and through art and writing projects. We also finished up our end of the Trimester assessments and prepped for Special Person's Day. It seems there is so much to do and so little time! Try to enjoy all the little holiday moments and stay warm! October started off with a chill but a great day for walking outside for our Walkathon. We were wildly successful and reached our goal, which meant some of the teachers were in for a new hairdo as a reward to our student body! We also went to the fire station (see slide show on previous post) and we also attended Alice and Wonderland at the Paramount in St. Cloud this month. Our fabulously decorated pumpkins graced our hallway and paved the way for entrance into our room for our fantastic Halloween party! We went on a parade of the school in our costumes, decorated pumpkins, made mummies, jack-o-lanterns, and pumpkin bead crafts. Plus, everyone went home with a bag full of treats and toys. Academically, we've been practicing our names Zaner Bloser style with one capital letter, writing the our numbers and ABC's, practicing counting from 0-10, working with 10 frames, enjoying Daily 5 activities, playing a variety of literacy games, creating art masterpieces, making patterns, clapping syllables in words, rhyming, learning poems and songs; plus, we've been practicing our color words, letters and sounds, and so much more! Additionally, we've been enjoying Math Bins and Sensory Bins. Next up: sight words, counting backwards from 20, counting forwards to 32, guided reading, more Daily 5 activities (including ipads), writing, and too many other concepts and skills to name. Plus, we will be working on our service project: Project Linus. October flew by and I'm sure November will too! Thanks to our many volunteers this month: Kate, Erin, LeeAnn, Laurie, Janelle, Katie, Anika, Brianna, Gary, Mike, Ryan, Andrew, Kate, Josie, April, Addie, Courtney, Steph, and Julie. I apologize if I've forgotten anyone - I feel blessed to have so many caring, supportive, and involved parents! And thank you, too, for all the wonderful donations! They are so appreciated and allow us to explore and create and imagine! We had a fantastic time on our trip to the Albany Fire Department and learned a lot about how to stay safe. We may even have some future firefighters on our hands! Thanks to the Albany Fire Department and to all the parents who volunteered! What a busy time we've been having in kindergarten. We've been slowly adding more concepts and activities as we get better at managing our time and completing things more quickly. There are so many things to do and so little time!! (That's probably the story for everyone's life these days!) Concepts we're working on this month and next: rules and routines, doing our best, sharing, kindness, friendship, inside voices, first names (recognizing, identifying the letters in our first names, and printing them with one capital letter), counting to 10 and recognizing numbers 0-10, beginning shapes, AB, ABC, AAB, and ABB patterns, sorting and grouping, rhyming, syllables, Nursery rhymes, apples, and too many more things to name! Below you can enjoy a slideshow of one of our favorite activities to choose from when we've complete our morning work. |
