It's hard to believe that September is almost over; goodbye to summer and hello to autumn!
We've been moving at an unbelievable pace as we learn to write our names - with ONLY 1 capital letter. In addition, we've been working with numbers, letters, learning the words: I and can, reading many stories, learning nursery rhymes, other poems, and songs. We've done some fun art projects, including a purple cow and some beautiful star wands. We've also been building our "Stamina" during Daily 5, and are up to 12 minutes of uninterrupted silent reading! Plus, we learned all about germs with the help of glitter and glitter glue. We now know how to cough or sneeze into our shoulder and elbow, how to neatly and politely go to the bathroom, and how to wash our hands. Ask your child to sing the following song to the tune of Frere Jacques: Tops and bottoms, tops and bottoms, In between, In between, All around my hands, All around my hands, Now they're clean, Now they're clean. In addition to all the academics and fun, we also practiced a fire drill. It caught us totally off guard, but because we had practiced on our own, we were prepared and did fabulous! In October, we'll get to take a trip to the Avon Fire Station! Everyday is filled with lessons and fun. So much to do and so little time. Well, tomorrow is another day! I hope everyone enjoys their last day of summer.
