What a great day! The weather was perfect for gathering sap and getting a lesson on how to tap a maple tree and turn the sap into delicious maple syrup! Thank you to all our wonderful chaperones who went running through the woods with our kiddos collecting sap, rehanging buckets, and hauling around buckets full of sap. We got to see firsthand how 40 gallons of sap becomes 1 delicious gallon of maple syrup. (Most importantly, we got to taste some of the finished product! YUMMMMMM!)

Today we got a wonderful treat - we got to eat our breakfast in the library! It was one of our rewards for being a member of the winning reading camp for I LOVE TO READ month. Plus, each student got to choose a book to keep for their very own! What a great start to a Monday!
Another fun day in "K" as we kicked off March with a celebration of Dr. Seuss and his birthday. We continued the learning into the following week as we participated in some fun dress-up days, and completed a multitude of Dr. Seuss learning activities that included art projects, a directed drawing of The Cat in the Hat, stories galore, and math with rainbow goldfish (that we got to eat for snack after we were finished counting them!). Plus, Thing 1 and Thing 2 showed up and caused havoc in our room but the Catcher managed to track them down after about an hour of chasing them through the school. There are so many ways to make learning fun and we are exploring all of the different avenues to learning! 100 day Fun! February was quite the busy month! We celebrated Groundhog's Day, the 100th Day of school, Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day, and more as we mixed food, fun, and academics! We made our own snack of 100 pieces of food, counted out 100 items, daubed 100 gumballs, assembled a puzzle of the number 100, and so much more. Learning is so much fun in kindergarten and we are most definitely 100 days smarter!! |
