October started off with a chill but a great day for walking outside for our Walkathon. We were wildly successful and reached our goal, which meant some of the teachers were in for a new hairdo as a reward to our student body! We also went to the fire station (see slide show on previous post) and we also attended Alice and Wonderland at the Paramount in St. Cloud this month. Our fabulously decorated pumpkins graced our hallway and paved the way for entrance into our room for our fantastic Halloween party! We went on a parade of the school in our costumes, decorated pumpkins, made mummies, jack-o-lanterns, and pumpkin bead crafts. Plus, everyone went home with a bag full of treats and toys. Academically, we've been practicing our names Zaner Bloser style with one capital letter, writing the our numbers and ABC's, practicing counting from 0-10, working with 10 frames, enjoying Daily 5 activities, playing a variety of literacy games, creating art masterpieces, making patterns, clapping syllables in words, rhyming, learning poems and songs; plus, we've been practicing our color words, letters and sounds, and so much more! Additionally, we've been enjoying Math Bins and Sensory Bins. Next up: sight words, counting backwards from 20, counting forwards to 32, guided reading, more Daily 5 activities (including ipads), writing, and too many other concepts and skills to name. Plus, we will be working on our service project: Project Linus. October flew by and I'm sure November will too! Thanks to our many volunteers this month: Kate, Erin, LeeAnn, Laurie, Janelle, Katie, Anika, Brianna, Gary, Mike, Ryan, Andrew, Kate, Josie, April, Addie, Courtney, Steph, and Julie. I apologize if I've forgotten anyone - I feel blessed to have so many caring, supportive, and involved parents! And thank you, too, for all the wonderful donations! They are so appreciated and allow us to explore and create and imagine!
