Those students from last year will remember that we had a tadpole in our room (see an earlier blog from spring 3/28/17, last year). We watched the tadpole, named Froggy, transform into a frog and a lucky student got to take him home at the end of the year. Well, that student was Caleb Ramler and he has been taking such good care of Froggy that he grew tremendously. Here is a picture of Froggy that he sent me recently.

What a busy three weeks it has been! There has been rules and routines to learn along with how to navigate the building. We have been practicing listening and following directions as well as learning new poems and songs. Slowly but surely we are making progress and are starting to accomplish more along the way, and having more fun each day! One of the fun activities we did was a name game with double circles. We introduced ourselves, told our favorite flavor of ice cream, and then the outside circle shifted over and we repeated it until we got back to the beginning. Next time we did it, the inner circle shifted after we introduced ourselves and told what our favorite zoo animal was and why. We continue to work on our name with one capital letter, we've started working on AB and ABC patterning, we are learning our color words, we are clapping syllables, practicing our counting, and so much more. Each day we try to treat others the Wakanheza way and are working on being bucket fillers and not dippers. There is so much to learn and do in kindergarten. |
