Another fun week was had as we concluded "I Love to Read" month with a full week of celebrating "Read Across America." We completed our reading challenges of puzzles, reading authors A-Z, the Wonderopolis website, joke telling, marble runs, and more! You can see that even the kindergarten teachers got into the spirit as we celebrated Read Across America week with a variety of special days and special activities focused around Dr. Seuss! You can see that the "THINGS" I teach enjoyed it, too!

Wow! Can you believe we've already passed the 100th Day of school? Needless to say, we celebrated in style and had some fantastic 100 Day projects to share. We hung them up in the hall so that people around the school could enjoy them, too. Our day was filled with fun and learning as we completed a variety of 100 Day activities and crafts. (Plus, we got to munch on some great snacks, too!!) We've been busy these first 100 days and will continue to be so until the last day of school. Enjoy the slideshow! Well it has certainly been awhile since I've posted anything. We lost out on Halloween and Christmas due to Covid; but we certainly made up for it at our Valentine's Day party!! We enjoyed our Valentine's box creations, played a variety of "Minute to Win It" valentine's themed games, completed a lot of Valentine's themed activities, shared our valentines, had a fun snack, made a Valentine's craft, and just plain had a good ole time! I hope your Valentine's Day was "sweet" and special! Until, next time, enjoy all that life has to offer! I don't know about you but I felt disappointed by our inability to have our traditional Halloween celebration at school. I felt every pain of that disappointment heighten with every rotting pumpkin I had to have thrown away because of this situation. In spite of all this, I am encouraged by my students' perseverance and willingness to continue their education in the face of this adversity. I really enjoyed their stories, their creativeness, their imagination, and their growth mindset. They are learning how to be flexible, adaptable, and how to make the best of a tough situation. Here are few pictures to show you that they haven't given up making learning fun and neither have I. Hopefully, we'll be back in the classroom soon!
Can you believe that it's already October? Where does the time go? I have way too many ideas and not enough time to do them! The Home Learning Pumpkin project turned out great and we've also completed some art projects of our own in school. Right now, we're finishing up our Apple studies and activities and heading into information on Fire Safety and Firefighters. We are also focusing recognizing and writing numbers 0-10, writing our names kindergarten style, patterns of all kinds, sorting items according to shape, size, color, and texture, graphing, concepts of print, and much more. We have also started using our Ipads; focusing mostly on the following apps: Seesaw, Epic, Starfall, as well as, a variety of Math apps. Enjoy our slideshow! We've almost made it through a full week of school COVID style. We are getting used to wearing our masks and are doing an awesome job at it. We have been studying germs and ways to stay healthy, learning nursery rhymes, working on numbers 0-10, practicing phonemic awareness skills, learning how to follow rules and routines, reading stories galore, and so much more! Although the days can seem long for these little ones, our days are busy and sometimes I'm not quite sure where the time goes!
Next week we will be learning more nursery rhymes, poems, and songs; working on more phonemic awareness skills, practicing ways to demonstrate "Pawsitive" pride, reviewing numbers 0-10, and wearing some special colors as we are introduced to the color words. (M=red, T=Orange, W=School Pictures, Th=Yellow, and Friday=Green). There is never a dull moment in kindergarten! Hopefully, you will a chance to get out and enjoy the last days of summer before the changing of the seasons. Take care, Mrs. Manthe |
