I can hardly believe that summer is over and a new school year has begun! We kicked off our year by searching for the elusive Pete the Cat. We chased him all over the school, following the clues he left; while exploring all the rooms and places in the school. We finally found him hiding in our room! Since then, we've read several more Pete the Cat books, danced to some Pete the Cat videos, completed several Pete the Cat art projects, and spent time drawing and writing about Pete, and more! It's been so much fun and I'm sure he'll pop up in more projects throughout the year.
This week and next we're focusing on recognizing colors and learning sign language for each color. Soon, we'll learn how to spell each one, too. We're enjoying so many books about colors and doing some writing and art; and learning some poems and songs along the way. Our days are full and busy as we try to navigate this new kindergarten world. We're learning rules, routines, and new names as go through our day. Sometimes it seems like our brains can't hold all the information that is being thrown at us! How did they get to be kindergarteners so fast? Weren't they just our babies? I say that to my kids often, and since they are now adults, they just roll their eyes and me and say "Oh, mom!" It seems, sometimes, that the days go by slow but the years fly by fast. So, enjoy every moment!
