Today we had a great presentation on healthy snacks from Penny Hoops, our Food Service Coordinator; along with a great tour of the kitchen, from Miss Nancy - a cook in our very own lunchroom! It was fun to see what is on the other side of the counter and the freezer sure was cold. We learned that about 400 school lunches are served everyday and that it takes about 10 large cans of fruit or applesauce or other foods to serve our school. We also had a chance to try two different kinds of hummus with carrots, cucumbers, and cauliflower; as well as, roasted garbanzo beans. Then, we topped our snacking off with a create -your -own yogurt parfait! Who knew education could be so delicious! Tomorrow we'll delve into the world of science and lava lamps!
