Spring has sprung and everyone continues to blossom. We're working on growing some seeds and discovering the needs of plants firsthand. The seeds in the window in baggies with only sunlight, air, and water started to grow first but certainly aren't thriving like the ones that are also getting dirt. We're discovering that living things all have basic needs.
(Next, we'll learn about butterflies; in first grade, they'll actually get to raise caterpillars and watch their transformation.) We've also been learning how to tell time to the hour, all about place value with hundreds, tens, and ones, how to do basic addition and subtraction, and reviewing numbers and money. Plus, we've been reviewing letters, words, word families, blends, and working on comprehension and sequencing. Whew! On top of this we finished our ABC Animal books, completed lots of Earth Day projects, AND enjoyed a movie/pajama/build- your- own -sundae day for good behavior. Not to mention the fabulous Spring Program! (Someone taped it for me so I could enjoy it, too!) I know these last few weeks will go quickly and I look forward to sharing more fun and educational experiences with all my kindergarteners.
